Perdido wa...I had almost exactly the same reaction. Perdido was a very interesting book, but not one I loved. The Scar, on the other hand, was absolutely perfect in every way. I couldn't put it down, and, when I had to, I couldn't stop thinking about it. Unfortunately, it's the only one of Mieville's novels to have done that.
